Yoni & Geti at the HiFi
by on May 28, 2016 in

Yoni & Geti is a collaboration between Chicago rapper Serengeti and Why?’s Yoni Wolf. Having previously worked on projects such as Sisyphus (alongside Son Lux and Sufjan Stevens) and Serengeti’s “Family and Friends”, this latest outing to support their new album Testarossa (Joyful Noise Recordings) further explores the interplay between the two artists and gives them a canvas on which to paint their intertwining and often-times whimsical stories. Serengeti occasionally delves into Kenny Dennis territory while weaving his seemingly autobiographic tales against the eclectic counterpoint of Yoni’s experimental structures and vocal wit. Backed by Doug McDiarmid on keys and Matt Meldon on Bass, the live experience of Yoni & Geti proves to be a huge achievement, demonstrating that they can do this just as well on wood as they can on vinyl.

The night of this show saw the HiFi packed deep from stage to door with fans of both artists eager to see their first and only scheduled Indianapolis performance.
